TRUE WALKER PRODUCTIONS is a New York-based production company launched in 2007 by Lynn True and Nelson Walker. The foundation of our work spans three main areas: film production, education and programming. By making films, sharing knowledge, and curating film events, we aim to promote innovative and diverse perspectives in visual storytelling and communication.
Lynn True graduated from Brown University with a joint degree in Urban Studies and Architecture, and began her film career working on non-fiction television and independent documentaries. As a filmmaker, her credits include the feature documentaries LUMO (PBS/P.O.V. 2007), about a young woman in the Democratic Republic of Congo recovering from violent rape and Summer Pasture, which follows a family of nomads in eastern Tibet as their pastoral way of life confronts rapid modernization. Called "enthralling" by The New York Times, Summer Pasture was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and an IFP Gotham Independent Film Award, and won a Peabody Award. It was broadcast on PBS/Independent Lens in 2012. Most recently, Lynn was a Director along with the late Albert Maysles of the feature documentary IN TRANSIT (Winner, Special Jury Mention, Tribeca Film Festival 2015), of which she was also Producer and Editor. Lynn also works regularly as a freelance editor and consultant on a variety of film and media projects.
